Sanaga Embankment is a scenic riverside promenade developed along the Sanaga River in Toy川 City, Aichi Prefecture. During the spring season, the area transforms into a spectacular landscape where approximately 650 Yoshino cherry trees (Somei Yoshino) bloom in full, creating a pink canopy over a sea of vibrant yellow canola flowers. This striking contrast of pink and yellow makes it a beloved destination for those wishing to feel the arrival of spring.
The Sanaga River is a secondary river system flowing through the Higashi-Mikawa region in eastern Aichi Prefecture. Due to its geological characteristics, the river's flow varies significantly depending on rainfall. The riverbed and its surrounding paths were developed and refined during the 1940s and 1950s, a period when the Toy川 Naval Arsenal was established. Today, the area preserves a beautiful landscape in harmony with nature. It also serves a cultural role in the community, hosting events such as the "Sanaga Sakura Walk Rally" every spring.

The greatest highlight is the long stretch of cherry blossom trees lining both sides of the embankment. Because the cherry tree tunnel extends for about 4km, visitors can enjoy ever-changing perspectives and views as they walk. The most iconic sight is the breathtaking contrast between the soft pink of the cherry blossoms and the bright yellow of the canola flowers spreading beneath them. The well-maintained promenade allows you to enjoy a peaceful time while watching the gentle flow of the river.
The most beautiful time to visit is from mid-March to early April, coinciding with the peak blooming season of the cherry blossoms. During this period, you can enjoy both the full bloom of the sakura and the canola flowers simultaneously. We highly recommend visiting during bright daylight hours; under a clear blue sky, the colors of the pink blossoms and yellow flowers appear most vivid, making it the perfect time for photography and walking.

The primary activity is a leisurely stroll along the scenic promenade. It is a wonderful place to feel the gentle spring breeze while surrounded by nature. The area also hosts cultural events like the "Sanaga Sakura Walk Rally," allowing visitors to experience local traditions. Whether you are walking for exercise or carrying a camera to capture the
