Ryumon Falls, located in Aira City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is a magnificent waterfall boasting a height of 46 meters and a width of 43 meters. Due to its overwhelming scale, it has been celebrated as a famous landmark of the Satsuma region since ancient times. In 1990, it was officially selected as one of the '100 Best Waterfalls in Japan,' making it a symbol of Japan's natural beauty. The name 'Ryumon' (Dragon Gate) is said to have originated from the description by visitors from China who, upon seeing the falls, remarked that the sight was reminiscent of the legendary Dragon Gate waterfall in China.

The area around the falls can be humid, and paths may become slippery. We highly recommend wearing sturdy, non-slip walking shoes. While there is no entrance fee for the falls themselves, please have cash or a card ready if you use local parking facilities. Please respect local rules and do not attempt to descend to the bottom of the waterfall.
