Ryumon Falls is a magnificent waterfall located in the outskirts of Nasukarasuyama City, Tochigi Prefecture. Standing approximately 20 meters high and 65 meters wide, the falls are steeped in the legend of a great serpent (Orochi) that once resided here, which gives the site its name. Within the falls, you can observe two large natural potholes carved by water: "Ogama" (Male Basin), roughly 4 meters in diameter, and "Megama" (Female Basin), roughly 2 meters in diameter, showcasing the incredible sculptural beauty of nature.
One of the most striking features of this site is the JR Kusatsu Line, which runs directly above the waterfall. In spring, this becomes a world-famous photography spot where travelers can capture a single frame featuring a passing train, blooming cherry blossoms, and the powerful cascading water.
