RSK Rose Garden, located in Nami-gawa, Kita-ku, Okayama City, is a massive botanical park centered around the rose family. Since its opening in 1974, it has become a landmark of the region's natural beauty. The garden boasts an impressive collection of approximately 450 varieties and 15,000 plants. Beyond roses, visitors can enjoy a diverse array of seasonal flowers. Interestingly, the park was established as a radio wave buffer zone; the garden's layout features beautiful concentric-shaped flowerbeds and walking paths designed around this unique historical and functional purpose.
The park was established to serve as a buffer zone for the RSK Kibi Radio Station to ensure smooth signal transmission. The layout is meticulously designed with concentric flowerbeds and paths centered around the transmitter, spanning a radius of about 100 meters (200m diameter). This unique structure creates a rare fusion of botanical beauty and functional radio communication design, resulting in the stunning landscape seen today.
