Raiden Nigiki Bridge is a significant part of National Route 140, located in the Oto district of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. This bridge was specifically designed to overcome the steep elevation changes required to reach the Takizawa Dam in Yamanashi Prefecture. The structure consists of a unique loop-shaped system made of two bridges: the Nigiki Ohashi Bridge (270m long) and the Otaki Ohashi Bridge (345m long). This ingenious design allows vehicles to gain altitude gradually. Due to its exceptional engineering and aesthetic design, the bridge has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Tanaka Prize from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers and the Good Design Award.
