Panorama Road Ebana is a scenic roadway located in Kamifurano, Hokkaido, that serves as a visual link between the famous Patchwork Hills and the majestic Mt. Furano. The defining feature of this area is a straight, approximately 5km-long road that cuts through a landscape of vast farmlands and gentle rolling hills. No matter which direction you look, you are met with an overwhelming sense of openness, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the harmonious blend of Hokkaido's rich natural beauty and its iconic agricultural landscapes.
This region is characterized by a landscape where nature and agriculture coexist in perfect harmony. The 'Patchwork Hills' are a symbol of this area, where the colors of the farmland change with every season, creating a living tapestry of textures. As a scenic spot that preserves the natural environment, it offers visitors a profound sense of tranquility and a feeling of absolute freedom from the bustle of urban life.

The most striking sight is the long, straight road that seems to stretch endlessly toward the horizon. As you drive, you will see beige-colored warehouses and barns on the left, contrasted by vast, sprawling fields on the right. Depending on the season, you can witness the rhythmic patterns of white protective sheets (mulch) covering the soil rows, or the grand sight of the snow-capped mountain ranges in the distance. The contrast between the deep blue sky, white clouds, and the textured earth creates a unique and unforgettable visual experience.
The colors of the landscape shift dramatically throughout the year. From spring to summer, you can enjoy the vibrant greens and the changing colors of growing crops. In autumn, the scenery reflects the harvest season. The view also changes with the weather; on clear days, the blue sky and distant mountain peaks become exceptionally vivid, providing a sense of immense clarity and refreshment.

This location is ideal for driving or cycling. Racing down the straight road provides a quintessential Hokkaido experience of driving through wide-open spaces. You can also pull over your car to simply sit and soak in the silence of the countryside or take a light stroll. It is a perfect place to relax and find peace while gazing at the beautiful, undisturbed scenery.
The area is framed by the grand mountain ranges, including Mt. Furano. Within Kamifurano, there are many other spots to enjoy seasonal flowers like lavender, as well as natural areas near Mt. Tokachi. You can easily incorporate this scenic drive into a larger sightseeing itinerary around the Furano region.
Since Panorama Road Ebana is an open outdoor area, please dress according to the weather. We recommend bringing a hat for sun protection and layers for temperature changes.
