Otsuka and Saikatsudo Ruins Park, located in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa, is a historical park that preserves the remains of a settlement from the mid-Yayoi period. The park is composed of two significant archaeological sites: the "Otsuka Ruins," representing a residential settlement, and the "Saikatsudo Ruins," which served as a burial ground. Developed by the City of Yokohama to preserve and pass down cultural heritage, this park is a vital location for understanding ancient Japanese history. The vast grounds feature various reconstructions of ancient housing styles and burial structures, offering a tangible look at the historical landscapes often only seen in textbooks.
The Otska and Saikatsudo sites are renowned as significant locations for life during the mid-Yayoi period. The Otsuka site is a moated settlement where approximately 100 people are believed to have lived about 2,000 years ago. The surrounding moat served a defensive role to protect the community from external threats. Meanwhile, the Saikatsudo site served as the burial ground for the residents. It features distinctive "Hokei Shuko Bo" (square-grooved graves), which provide insight into the burial customs and spiritual beliefs of the era. These sites were preserved and developed as part of the efforts to protect cultural assets during the development of Kohoku New Town.

In autumn, the surrounding trees turn vibrant colors, creating a beautiful landscape where historical ruins blend with nature. Additionally, the area with the Edo-period folk houses often hosts seasonal events and workshops, providing a chance to observe traditional Japanese scenery in a living context.
The cultural experience facility, "Tsuzuki Minka-en," hosts various events and workshops throughout the year. These programs offer opportunities to learn about traditional Japanese lifestyles and history through hands-on experiences. The park also features well-maintained walking paths, making it an excellent environment for a stroll while learning about history in a natural setting. Near the park, you can find related facilities such as the Yokohama Historical Museum. The park also includes an area known as "Rekishi-haku-dori" (History Museum Street), which features exhibits and facilities that symbolize the local history.
