Orizuru Tower is a 100-meter-tall multi-purpose tourist facility located immediately east of the Atomic Bomb Dome in central Hiroshima. Opened in 2016, the tower is themed around the 'Orizuru' (folded paper crane), symbolizing the connection between Hiroshima's past, present, and future. Designed by renowned architect Hiroshi Nambu, the building's exterior features a unique aesthetic inspired by the art of paper folding. The rooftop offers an open-air space where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and even the Seto Inland Sea.
The facility was developed to promote tourism around the Atomic Bomb Dome area while serving as a hub for sharing messages of peace and local industry. Because it is located within the buffer zone of the World Heritage-listed Atomic Bomb Dome, the architectural design and structural integrity are strictly managed to respect the historical landscape. The tower serves as a space for peace education, where visitors can express their wishes for a world without nuclear weapons through the symbolic act of folding paper cranes.
There are several unique spots to explore within Orizuru Tower. At the 12th-floor 'Orizuru Plaza,' you can participate in an interactive installation where you fold a paper crane using special paper and drop it into the 'Orizuru Wall'—a beautiful glass-walled void. The rooftop 'Hiroshima no Oka' is an open-air space that allows you to feel the breeze while enjoying a near 360-degree view of Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and Hiroshima Castle. Additionally, the 1st floor features the 'SOUVENIR SELECT Hito to Ki' shop, showcasing local Hiroshima products, and the 'Akushu Cafe -PARK SIDE-' where you can relax with a drink.
The tower offers different atmospheres depending on the time and season. The evening and night views are particularly striking, as the city lights blend with the serene atmosphere of Peace Memorial Park. Since the rooftop is an open-air space, please note that access may change based on weather and wind conditions. On clear days, you can expect a vast, unobstructed view toward the Seto Inland Sea. The building is also designed with louvers and wind-catchers to ensure a comfortable environment even during warmer months.

For a relaxing break, visit the 1st-floor cafe to enjoy coffee and local Hiroshima ingredients while gazing at the view. The tower is situated in the heart of Hiroshima's most significant historical area. The Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome are right in front of the tower, and Hiroshima Castle and its park are within walking distance. This makes it easy to combine a visit to the tower with a tour of the city's historical landmarks and modern urban districts.
The rooftop is an open-air space, so it is recommended to bring a light jacket or clothing suitable for the wind. Access to the rooftop may be restricted during high winds or bad weather. While the building is equipped with ramps for accessibility, please be mindful of steps and wind when moving around the rooftop area. Payments at the 1st-floor shop and cafe can be made via cash, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), or various Japanese transportation IC cards. English signage and staff support are available to assist international visitors.
