Omiya Daini Park is an expansive green space located on the eastern side of Omiya Park in Saitama City. Opened in 1980, the park serves as a flood control area for the Shiba River while maintaining a rich natural environment. The greatest draw of the park is the diverse range of flora that changes with the seasons. Most notably, the park boasts approximately 650 plum trees, including varieties such as red, white, weeping, and wild plum, which create a breathtaking spectacle of blossoms every spring. The park is thoughtfully designed to engage not just sight, but also touch and smell, offering visitors a deeply calming and immersive experience in nature.
The history of the Omiya area is long-standing, dating back to the completion of the 'Kinsui-ro' rest house in 1885. Omiya Daini Park was later developed in 1980 as part of an expansion of the original Omiya Park. Historically, this area was developed as a regulation site for the Shiba River's flood control. The park also played a significant role in regional greening efforts, having served as a main venue for the 5th National Urban Greening Fair, 'Green Harmony Saitama '87'. Today, it stands as a symbol of the harmony between nature and the urban environment.

There are several unique spots to enjoy at Omiya Daini Park. The most famous is the 'Plum Festival' held in spring, where the sight of 650 blooming plum trees is truly awe-inspiring. Another standout feature is the 'Scent Road,' established in 1996. This area is specially designed to be inclusive, allowing everyone—including those with disabilities—to enjoy the scents and textures of seasonal flowers and trees through sight, touch, and smell. Additionally, the park features the traditional Japanese tea house 'Soraian,' providing a serene atmosphere where you can experience traditional Japanese aesthetics amidst nature.
The best time to visit is during the spring, specifically from mid-February to March. Visiting during the 'Plum Festival' allows you to see the park at its most vibrant and colorful. For the best experience, we recommend visiting during daylight hours when the colors and scents of the plants are most vivid. Visiting during the late afternoon or dusk offers a much quieter, more contemplative atmosphere as the natural stillness deepens.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of nature-themed activities. The 'Scent Road' offers a unique sensory walk that is hard to find in other parks, allowing you to deepen your connection with nature through touch and aroma. The vast grounds are also perfect for leisurely walks or nature observation to feel the changing seasons. It is an ideal destination for families and friends looking to relax and breathe in the fresh air.
The park is located near the main Omiya Park, which features a small zoo with various animals, including birds and reptiles. To the north is the municipal Owada Park. The area is highly walkable, with pedestrian paths and overpasses connecting Omiya Daini Park to the main Omiya Park, making it easy to explore multiple green spaces in one trip.

As this is a natural environment, comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
