The site features two unique suspension bridges constructed from woven plant vines (kazura). These are known as the 'Otoko-bashi' (Male Bridge) and 'Mebashi' (Female Bridge), and together they are affectionately called the 'Meoto-bashi' (Couple Bridges). Surrounded by deep forests and pristine mountain streams, the area offers an overwhelming sense of natural beauty and a peaceful silence that completely disconnects you from the bustle of modern life. An on-site campsite also allows visitors to immerse themselves in the breath of nature.

History & Cultural Background

This location is steeped in historical legend. It is said that the Taira clan constructed these bridges to access the 'Heike no Baba' on Mount Tsurugi. This blend of human ingenuity and the natural environment adds a profound layer of depth to the landscape. The craftsmanship of the vine bridges, using traditional natural materials, serves as a precious cultural heritage that preserves the traditional scenery of Japan.

The greatest thrill is the sight of the two vine bridges standing side by side. Crossing the swaying bridges while looking down at the beautiful mountain stream below provides an unforgettable experience. While the ancient 'Yaen' mechanism—a system used to cross the river by pulling a rope—is no longer in use, the surrounding lush greenery and the sparkling water continue to captivate every visitor.

Please note that the site is closed for the winter season from December to March, so please check your schedule in advance.
