Okamoto Bairin Park (officially known as Okamoto Park) is a lush, nature-filled park situated on the slopes of the Rokko mountain range in Higashinada-ku, Kobe. This area was once so famous for its plum blossoms that people used to say, "Plums in Okamoto, Cherries in Yoshino." Today, the park is home to approximately 200 plum trees across 40 different varieties. Visitors can enjoy a continuous blooming season from mid-February to mid-march. The park is well-equipped with facilities such as ponds, streams, gazebos, and benches, allowing for a peaceful time in nature. Its elevated location also provides an exceptional panoramic view of the beautiful Kobe cityscape and the sparkling Osaka Bay.
The region has a long history intertwined with plum blossoms. During the Edo period, the landscape was defined by plum-related scenery, and even certain varieties like the
