Osamu Ogawara was born in Kutchan (formerly Kutchan Village) and studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts). After embarking on a career as an avant-garde painter, he returned to his hometown of Kutchan, where he dedicated himself to creative-work for over 60 years. His art is a fusion of a deep connection to this land and a unique spirituality shaped by his experiences in China, Tibet, and India. The museum serves to pass down his lifelong artistic quest to future generations while also promoting local culture by exhibiting works from artists with ties to the region.
