The Nishiwaki City Okanoma Museum, located in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, was established to house and exhibit the works of the world-renowned artist Tadanori Yokoo. The building itself is a masterpiece of creative design, crafted by the legendary architect Arata Isozaki. The entrance features a grand arch supported by columns reminiscent of a Greek temple, while the overall structure evokes the silhouette of a train. The museum serves as a hub for contemporary art, hosting special exhibitions and atelier-style displays that invite visitors into a deep world of modern creativity.
The museum was founded to preserve and promote the artistic legacy of Tadanori Yokoo, a native of Nishiwaki. The architectural structure, designed by Arata Isozaki, was completed in June 1984, and the museum officially opened in October of the same year. Since its inception, it has served as a vital center for regional art, fostering the appreciation of contemporary art through curated exhibitions, atelier displays, and educational museum lectures.
