Located in Niigata City, Niigata City Aquarium Marinepia Nihonkai is a premier facility themed around the natural environment of the Sea of Japan. The aquarium is organized into several exhibition zones that introduce different marine environments. Key highlights include a massive tank themed after the Sea of Japan, exhibits following the warm currents such as the Kuroshio and Tsushima currents, and specialized areas focused on river environments. In addition to these, visitors can enjoy viewing penguins, marine mammals, and various bird species.
The facility is generally open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please note that the appearance of certain marine life and the content of special events may change depending on the season and weather conditions. Beyond simple viewing, the aquarium offers interactive learning opportunities. The Dolphin Stadium hosts captivating dolphin shows where you can observe the movements of marine animals up close. Situated in Chuo-ku, Niigata City, the aquarium offers beautiful coastal views. Access by car is convenient as the facility provides ample free parking. The surrounding area is a wonderful place to enjoy the natural scenery and the refreshing sea breeze of the Niigata coast.
The entire facility, including both indoor and outdoor areas, is strictly non-smoking. Please be considerate of other visitors while viewing the exhibits. For guests using wheelchairs or strollers, floor maps with suggested viewing routes are available to ensure a smooth experience. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing for moving around the facility and checking the surroundings to ensure safe and enjoyable viewing.
