Located in Niigata City, Niigata City Aquarium Marinepia Nihonkai is a premier facility themed around the natural environment of the Sea of Japan. The aquarium is organized into several exhibition zones that introduce different marine environments. Key highlights include a massive tank themed after the Sea of Japan, exhibits following the warm currents such as the Kuroshio and Tsushima currents, and specialized areas focused on river environments. In addition to these, visitors can enjoy viewing penguins, marine mammals, and various bird species.
The facility is generally open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The entire facility, including both indoor and outdoor areas, is strictly non-smoking. Please be considerate of other visitors while viewing the exhibits. For guests using wheelchairs or strollers, floor maps with suggested viewing routes are available to ensure a smooth experience.
