The Nitchusen Shidare-zakura Sakura Trees is a breathtaking spot in Kitata, Fukushima, where roughly 1,000 weeping cherry trees (shidare-zakura) are planted along a 3km stretch. This area was once a functioning railway line (the Nitchusen Line) and has since been repurposed into a dedicated pedestrian and cycling path. This location utilizes the former trackbed of the Nitchusen Line. The path is lined with approximately 1,000 weeping cherry trees. A standout feature is the section where the branches arch over the path, creating a lush 'Sakura Tunnel.' The peak bloom typically occurs from mid-April to late April. During this period, special events such as the Nitchusen Shidare-zakura Light-up are held.
