Natsui Senbonzakura is an exceptionally beautiful cherry blossom spot located along both banks of the Natsui River in Ono Town, Tamura District, Fukushima Prefecture. The sight of approximately 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees blooming over a 5km stretch is truly breathtaking. This landscape has been preserved through the dedication of local volunteers who have planted and nurtured the trees, making it a symbolic landscape that heralds the arrival of spring. With well-maintained walking paths, the greatest charm lies in the ability to stroll leisurely under the full bloom while listening to the gentle sound of the river.
These beautiful cherry blossom rows were not merely a natural occurrence but were shaped by the passion of the local community. There is a history of local volunteers collecting donations to plant saplings, and this community spirit continues to support the landscape today. The harmony between nature and human effort has created the stunning scenery seen at Nclus Natsui River.
The biggest highlight is undoubtedly the rows of Yoshino cherry trees that line both sides of the river. Under the clear spring sky, the sight of the blossoms reflecting on the river surface is incredibly photogenic. Additionally, during the night, the area features light-up events where you can enjoy the ethereal beauty of the cherry blossoms emerging from the darkness. The illuminated trees create a dramatic and different atmosphere compared to the daytime. You can also enjoy the seasonal color changes, such as the yellow narcissus blooming at the base of the trees.
The best season is from mid-April to late April. During this time, the 'Natsui Senbonzakura Festival' is often held, making it the most vibrant period to visit. We recommend visiting during the daytime to enjoy the stroll under the gentle sunlight, or at night to witness the illumination. Night illuminations typically occur from around 18:00 to 22:00 (subject to change based on blooming status), offering a magical world quite different from the day.
