Yatsu Rose Garden is a beautiful municipal rose garden located in Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture. Spanning a vast area of approximately 12,600 square meters, the garden is home to an impressive collection of about 7,500 roses from roughly 800 different varieties. The sight of these diverse roses blooming in orderly splendor around the central fountain never fails to enchant visitors. The collection ranges from famous, highly-regarded cultivars to historically significant species, allowing visitors to experience the charm of global rose varieties in one single location.
The history of this garden is quite storied; it was once beloved as the "Yatsu Amusement Park Rose Garden." Opened in 1957 by Keisei Electric Railway, it developed into a massive rose garden that was once hailed as one of the finest in the Orient. After its role as an amusement park ended in 1982, it was restored as a city park in Narashino following requests from local citizens. Today, it is cherished as a beautifully maintained urban park that blends Western-style garden aesthetics with Japanese elements, such as traditional watercourses and sculptures. Interestingly, near the entrance, you can find a monument related to the roots of the "Yomiuri Giants," a legendary name in Japanese professional baseball, adding a touch of local historical depth.
