Nakatsu Keikoku is a stunning scenic spot designated as a prefectural natural park in Niyodo Town, Kochi Prefecture. A well-maintained walking path stretches approximately 2.3 km from the entrance to the stone pillar, allowing visitors to experience the profound beauty of natural geological formations up close. The geological history of this area is told through the very shapes of the landscape, carved by the rainfall hitting Mt. Nakatsu Myojin over vast stretches of time. As a protected natural park, the area is preserved as a precious regional landscape. The unique shapes of the rock walls and the terrain were formed through the natural process of erosion by water, creating a site where the raw power of nature is visible in every corner.

Even outside of this period, the lush greenery provides a refreshing atmosphere. For the best experience, we recommend visiting during daylight hours to fully appreciate the clarity of the water, the texture of the rock faces, and the vibrant colors of the landscape.
The primary activity is a relaxing nature walk along the approximately 2.3 km maintained trail. As you follow the path along the terrain, you can enjoy panoramic views of the gorge. For a deeper experience, you can participate in tours led by local guides to learn about the famous 'Niyodo Blue' water and the local ecosystem. Walking slowly through this environment allows for a true sense of connection with the natural world.
Near the entrance of the gorge, you will find 'Nakatsu Keikoku Yunomori,' a hot spring accommodation facility. This is a perfect way to unwind and enjoy a soak in a natural hot spring after your hike. The area is part of a larger scenic route through Niyodo Town, making it a popular destination for travelers seeking nature and relaxation.
