Nakanoshima Ohashi is a vibrant red pedestrian bridge that serves as a beloved landmark in the port area of Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture. With a total length of 236 meters and a height of 27 meters, the bridge plays a vital role in connecting the local area to Torisaki Seaside Park. The most striking feature is its brilliant red color and its open structure, which provides an exhilarating sensation of walking directly over the sea. It stands as a significant landmark that bridges the historical identity of Kisarazu as a port town with modern leisure and relaxation.
Kisarazu has long developed as a thriving port city, and Nakanoshima Ohashi is a central part of this maritime landscape. In 2010, the area gained further cultural significance when it was officially designated as a "Sacred Site for Lovers" (Koibito no Seichi), making it a popular destination for couples. The surrounding area is also part of urban revitalization efforts, such as the Park-Bay Project, which aims to enhance local tourism resources and revitalize the community through the development of waterfront spaces.

The bridge's architecture itself is a major attraction. As a pedestrian-only structure, it offers a safe and peaceful way to experience the sea breeze while enjoying an unobstructed view of the horizon. Because of its height, visitors enjoy a wide, panoramic perspective of the ocean. The bridge leads directly to Torisaki Seaside Park, where you can continue your stroll through beautiful coastal scenery. Depending on the season, the surrounding coastal area offers diverse natural experiences, such as clam digging, which is a popular local activity.
Nakanoshima Ohashi is accessible and beautiful throughout the year. From spring to summer, the coastal environment feels particularly refreshing and open. In the spring, the nearby Torisaki Seaside Park becomes a hub for families and tourists during the clam-digging season. At night, the area can be quite atmospheric, sometimes featuring light-ups that create a romantic mood. During the day, the sharp contrast between the deep blue sea and the bright red bridge creates a stunning visual spectacle perfect for photography.

Walking across the bridge is an activity in itself. The design ensures a safe and scenic way to traverse the water. Once you reach the end of the bridge, Torisaki Seaside Park offers various amenities, including renovated dining facilities, terraces, and a fountain plaza, where you can relax and enjoy the ocean view. The park is well-maintained as a community space for both locals and visitors to unwind.
The area surrounding the bridge is rich in local attractions. Torisaki Seaside Park features dining and terrace spaces developed through the Park-PFI system, making it an ideal spot for a break. Additionally, nearby Ota Yama Park offers a view from the Kisarazu Tower, where you can see the cityscape, Yokohama, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. This entire area is part of the ongoing development of the Kisarazu Port and the "Park-Bay Project."
Since the bridge is exposed to the elements, it can be quite windy; we recommend wearing clothing that provides wind protection. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for exploring the coastal paths. If you plan to use nearby facilities, please carry both cash and a credit card. As this is a public park and pedestrian area, please remember to take your trash home with you and be mindful of other visitors to ensure a pleasant environment for everyone. Please follow local etiquette when taking photographs in public spaces.
