The cherry blossoms along the Motosumioshi Shibukawa River are a celebrated scenic spot located in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Situated within walking distance of Motosumioshi Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line, this area offers a lush, natural landscape right in the heart of the urban environment. The approximately 2km stretch of cherry trees creates a breathtaking contrast between the ivory sky and the soft pink blossoms, signaling the arrival of spring.
This location has been lovingly maintained and preserved through the cooperation of local residents. The area is deeply rooted in community culture, hosting events such as the 'Sumiyoshi Sakura' festival to coincide with the blooming season. The greatest attraction is the 2km long cherry blossom path following the curves of the Shibukawa River. Please note that there is no nighttime illumination (light-up) at this location, so it is best to visit during the bright daylight hours to fully enjoy the scenery. Nearby, Nakahara Heiwakoen Park often hosts cultural events such as traditional performances or parades as part of the 'Sumiyoshi Sakura' festival. You can also spend a peaceful moment sitting on a bench at the waterfront terrace, watching the river flow by. The location is highly accessible, just a 3-minute walk from Motosumioshi Station, which is surrounded by various local shops and eateries.
