Mobara Park is a prominent urban park located in Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture. The park is designed around Benten Lake, featuring scenic walking paths, children's play areas, multi-purpose plazas, and an outdoor stage. The park is home to several sites with historical significance. For instance, the Benten Pond features the Mobara Benzaiten shrine, which is said to have been established in 1918 (Taisho 7). The park is divided into several distinct areas, each offering a unique experience. The First Plaza is characterized by large, mature trees, including many cherry blossoms, and is equipped with diverse playground equipment such as climbing structures, a Tarzan rope, a globe jungle gym, swings, seesaws, and slides. The Second Plaza features wide-open lawns and an outdoor stage, situated right next to the plum garden where white and red plum blossoms bloom beautifully. A roughly 1-kilometer perimeter path allows visitors to enjoy a stroll along the undulating terrain of Mt. Michitabi. From the higher vantage points near the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of Benten Lake, the surrounding Mobara cityscape, and even the distant Kujukuri Beach.
The park's landscape transforms with every season. In spring, the park is filled with various varieties of cherry blossoms, including Somei Yoshino, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The plum garden also offers beautiful displays of white and red blossoms. In summer, visitors can enjoy hydrangeas, while autumn brings the vibrant colors of maple leaves. During certain periods, special light-up events are held at night, offering a completely different way to experience the park's beauty.
