Located in Oguni Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, Yu Station is much more than just a rest area; it serves as a vital information hub for the region. The most striking feature of this facility is its ingenious architectural design. This site was once home to the Higo-Ogoni Station of the former JNR Miyahara Line. To honor this history while looking toward the future, the facility was completed in 1987 as part of a town development vision. Its unique, inverted trapezoid-like exterior captures the eye and creates a modern impression that harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding natural environment.
The construction of Yu Station was planned as the first step in the "Yu-ki no Sato" development project, marking the 50th anniversary of Oguni Town's municipal establishment in 1985.
