Mikami Mine Park is renowned as one of the most significant cherry blossom viewing spots in Sendai City. The park boasts a collection of over 500 cherry trees, including varieties such as Somei Yoshino, Yaezakura (late-blooming cherry), and Shidarezakura (weeping cherry). Because these different species bloom at different times, visitors can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms over an extended period. The park offers a sense of openness with its vast lawn areas and the soothing shade provided by established pine forests. Beyond its natural beauty, the park serves as a cultural site, housing ruins of Jomon period settlements and monuments related to the former Imperial Japanese Army Junior School, creating a unique space where nature and history coexist.

When strolling through the park, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Casual, easy-to-move-in clothing is best for the lawn areas and exploring the historical sites. While there are no specific fees for park entry, please note that most signage is primarily in Japanese. No advanced reservations are required, but as the cherry blossom season can be quite busy, we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot. For transportation to nearby facilities, please ensure you have a transit IC card or cash.
