Michi-no-Eki Tsubame-Sanjo Jiba San Center is a prominent roadside station located in Sugoro, Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. Its origins date back to the Niigata Central Regional Industrial Promotion Center established in 1986, and it is currently managed by the Tsubame-Sanjo Local Industry Promotion Foundation. The facility features the central building known as "Messe Pier," which opened in 1988. This center serves as a vital hub for showcasing the region's industrial prowess, featuring a specialized gift shop (Bussankan), a restaurant, and a tourism/road information corner. It was officially registered as a "Michi-no-Eki" (roadside station) on March 25, 2016.
The facility was established to support and promote the local industries of the Tsubame-Sanjo area. By inheriting the history of the Niigata Central Regional Industrial Promotion Center, it continues to play a crucial role in both industrial development and regional tourism. The Tsubame-Sanjo region is world-renowned for its high-precision metalworking technology, and this center serves as the primary gateway for visitors to experience this legendary craftsmanship firsthand.
Inside the facility, you will find the Bussankan (gift shop) which features products created using unique regional techniques. The information and rest area provides essential tourism and road-related updates. The complex consists of structures like "Messe Pier" and "Research Core," making it a comprehensive center for both industrial insight and travel information.
The facility is an excellent destination for daytime sightseeing or as a refreshing break during a drive. While the gift shop and restaurant have specific operating hours, the restrooms are available 24 hours a day, making it a reliable stop at any time. The collection of metalware and local products is available to view and purchase year-round.
In the gift shop, you can purchase premium metal products that embody the pinnacle of Tsubame-Sanjo's craftsmanship. The center is conveniently located near major routes including National Routes 289 and 8, as well as Niigata Prefectural Road 68. It is easily accessible from the Sanjo-Yanagi Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. Additionally, it is reachable via Tsubame-Sanjo Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen and Echigo Line.
