Lotte Arai Resort is a premium, stay-oriented resort located in the Myoko area of Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. Since its inception in 1993 as a leisure facility featuring a ski area, restaurants, and a hotel, it has grown significantly. Now under the management of the Lotte Group, it has established itself as a premier mountain resort offering world-class skiing, snowboarding, hot spring relaxation, and various seasonal activities. The resort sits at the foot of Mt. O 'omunashi (elevation 1,429m), an area renowned for its exceptional snow quality and stunning natural environment.
The history of this resort dates back to the construction phase in 1991. It first opened in 1993 as the "ARAI MOUNTAIN & SKI RESORT." Over the years, it underwent several name changes, including "ARAI MOUNTAIN & SNOW PARK" and "ARAI MOUNTAIN & SPA," as it expanded its offerings to include pools, aesthetic spas, and hot spring facilities. In 2015, the resort was acquired by Hotel and Resort Joetsu Myoko Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hotel Lotte in South Korea. In December 2017, it underwent a complete renewal and reopened as the "Lotte Arai Resort." From its origins in the Japanese bubble era to its current status, the resort has evolved into a sophisticated international destination for high-end mountain stays.
The core of the resort is its expansive ski slopes. During the winter season, guests can enjoy high-quality powder snow in a breathtaking setting. After a day on the slopes, visitors can unwind in the well-maintained hot spring (onsen) facilities. A standout feature is the "First Class" lift pass, which allows for priority access to lifts and gondolas, ensuring a smoother experience. Whether you are here for the winter sports or the seasonal relaxation through the hot springs and resort amenities, there is always something to discover.
The peak winter season runs from December through approximately May, allowing for extended skiing and snowboarding sessions. When night skiing is available, lifts operate until 20:00. During the non-snow seasons, the resort focuses on leisure stays centered around the hot spring facilities and the surrounding natural scenery, making it a versatile destination for any time of year.
Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers deep relaxation through its hot spring facilities. In the past, the resort has even introduced areas for off-piste skiing. The premium service extends to the lift passes, where specific tiers offer more efficient movement across the mountain. It is a place where luxury meets the great outdoors.
Located in the Myoko area of Myoko City, the resort is surrounded by the majestic mountain ranges of the Myoko region. The area is famous among enthusiasts for its natural beauty and proximity to other renowned ski resorts and hot spring towns, making it a perfect base for exploring Niigata's mountain culture.
For winter visitors, high-performance thermal wear and professional ski/snowboard gear are essential. When using the hot spring facilities, please bring appropriate change of clothes and follow local bathing etiquette. Regarding payments, please check in advance if you intend to use credit cards or transit IC cards. We ask all guests to observe resort rules and safety guidelines to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay for everyone.
