Lalala Sun Beach
8 min readOverview & Charm
Lalala Sun Beach is a beautiful man-made beach located in the Nishiura Hirasawa area of Numazu, Shizuoka. It was developed adjacent to Hirasawa Port to provide a space for locals and visitors to enjoy the ocean. The name "Lalala" is a combination of the names of the surrounding areas: Ni-shiura, Hi-rasawa, and Ku-ra. The beach is famous for its brilliant white sand; in 2023, approximately 1,500 tons of white sand were brought in from Karatsu City in Saga Prefecture to maintain its stunning appearance.
History & Culture
Created to preserve the coastline and foster a connection with the sea, this beach has been a community landmark since 2003. In 2013, the "Isohama Area" was added to expand the range of underwater activities. The continuous maintenance, such as the recent sand replacement from Saga Prefecture, ensures that the beach remains a high-quality destination for both scenery and recreation.
Key Highlights
The facility is divided into two main zones: the "Sand Beach Area" and the "Isohama Area." The Sand Beach Area offers a wide, spacious stretch of white sand (approx. 230m long and 40m wide) where you can enjoy the pure texture of the sand and the beautiful coastline. The Isohama Area is home to the Hirasawa Marine Center, a hub for scuba diving and other marine activities. The management office is well-equipped with essential amenities, including showers, changing rooms, and restrooms, to support your seaside stay.
Seasonal Recommendations
The atmosphere at Lalala Sun Beach changes beautifully with the seasons. During the summer, it becomes a lively center for swimming and water sports. In spring, autumn, and winter, the area offers a much calmer environment, perfect for peaceful seaside strolls. During the day, the white sand reflects the sunlight brilliantly, while the evenings provide a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere. Depending on the season, you can enjoy everything from high-energy water activities to quiet coastal walks.
Activities & Experiences
At the Hassa Marine Center in the Isohama Area, you can participate in scuba diving and other marine-related activities. The well-maintained Sand Beach Area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the natural coastal environment. Since the facility provides showers and changing rooms, you can easily transition from water activities to your next destination.
Surrounding Area
The beach is located near Hirasawa Port and sits along Prefectural Route 17 (Numazu-Toi Line). The surrounding Nishiura coastline is a beautiful area perfect for scenic drives and coastal exploration.
