The Former Tadeshi Family Western-Style House is a remarkable architectural landmark located in Arita, Saga Prefecture. Constructed in 1876 (the 9th year of the Meiji era), the building serves as a physical testament to the history of the Japanese ceramic industry. In recognition of its profound historical and architectural value, the building was designated as a National Important Cultural Property on December 25, 2018.

The viewing hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Visiting during these festive periods allows you to experience the vibrant energy of Arita's ceramic culture alongside this historic architecture.

The Former Tadeshi Family Western-Style House is situated in the heart of Arita Town. The surrounding area is filled with shops selling Arita-ware (porcelain) and various facilities related to the ceramic festivals. During the Arita Ceramic Festival or the Autumn Ceramic Festival, the entire neighborhood becomes incredibly lively and bustling with visitors from around the world.
To enjoy the tour comfortably, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as you may need to navigate stairs or uneven surfaces. As this is a protected historical site, please be mindful of your surroundings and treat the building with respect. Since the interior is only open on specific days, we highly recommend checking the schedule before your visit.
