The area is comprised of various facilities, labeled from "Kurokabe No. 1" to "No. 30," which utilize traditional Japanese architecture with black plaster walls. This district serves as a hub for glass shops, galleries, glass workshops, cafes, restaurants, and hands-on craft classes. Known as one of Japan's largest areas for glass art appreciation, it attracts approximately 2 million visitors annually.

A notable example is the Kurokabe Glass Hall (Kurokabe No. 1), a wooden Western-style building that originally served as a bank.
