Koreya-san Park (Shonan-daira) is a scenic park located on a 181m hill on the border between Hiratsuka City and Oiso Town in Kanagawa Prefecture. Once known as "Senjojiki," it is now widely beloved as "Shonan-daira." The park is designated as one of the "50 Scenic Views of Kanagawa" and is part of the "Eight Views of Hiratsuka." The summit area features a rest house where visitors can relax while enjoying the stunning surrounding scenery.
The area has long been celebrated for its rich natural beauty. Since its designation as a scenic park in 1959, continuous efforts have been made to preserve its natural landscape. The 181m summit maintains its original topography, serving as a vital community space for both locals and tourists to connect with nature. Ongoing maintenance ensures the area remains a high-quality destination for recreation while protecting the local ecosystem.
The park is divided into two main areas: the "Shonan-daira Zone" for enjoying scenic views and the "Asama-yama Zone" for more immersive nature experiences. The summit of the Shonan-daira Zone features a developed observation area that offers a sweeping view of the Shonan coastline. Additionally, a new playground area was installed in March 2024, providing a great environment for children. The playground includes a triple swing set (standard, disc, and harness types) and sensory-based multi-purpose equipment, making it a hit for families.
Koreya-san Park reveals different charms throughout the seasons. The spring season (March to May) and autumn season (October to November) are particularly beautiful for hiking and walking. Visiting the summit during daylight hours allows you to enjoy the vibrant contrast between the blue ocean and the clear sky. The observation area is accessible according to the rest house operating hours (09:30–21:30).
For nature enthusiasts, there are seven well-maintained hiking routes ranging from beginner-friendly paths to more challenging treks in the Asama-yama Zone. At the summit, children can enjoy the new triple swings and sensory-focused multi-purpose equipment designed to engage the five senses. For a closer look at the distant scenery, free binoculars are also available at the observation deck.
The area around Koreya-san Park is dotted with historical walking routes. You can explore paths connecting Kora Shrine and the Oiso-shuku post town, or routes through the Asahi shopping district to experience local culture after your hike. Nearby beach areas like Shonan Kaigan Park also allow you to enjoy the perfect blend of mountains and sea.
