Koriyama Fureai Science Museum Space Park is an urban science center built around the concept of "Us in the Universe." Located within the Big Eye (Koriyama City Cultural Center) at a height of 96 meters, this facility offers a deep dive into the mysteries of space and advanced technology. Rather than just passive learning, visitors can engage in hands-on experiences such as "Moon Jump," which simulates lunar gravity, and "Triple Spin," which mimics astronaut training. The facility also boasts a Guinness-certified Space Theater (Planetarium), providing a professional-grade environment to observe a dazzling star-filled sky.

The facility is organized into themed floors. The 23rd floor houses the "Space Theater," where seasonal planetarium programs allow you to experience the vastness of the cosmos. The 22nd floor features an Observation Lobby with a panoramic view of Koriyama and a detailed railway model diorama. The 21st floor is the main "Exhibition Zone," home to unique interactive exhibits like "Moon Jump" and "Triple Spin." These allow visitors to physically experience the sensations of astronaut training and lunar life, turning abstract scientific concepts into tangible, bodily sensations.
Because the planetarium programs change seasonally, you can enjoy different celestial views depending on when you visit. Please note that operating hours vary by area: the Exhibition Zone closes at 17:45, while the Space Theater closes earlier at 16:15 on weekdays. However, on Fridays, the Space Theater stays open until 19:45, making it a great option for evening sightseeing. The observation lobby is also a wonderful spot to view the city lights at night.
The highlight of the museum is its hands-on exhibits. You can understand the physics of space through the "Moon Jump" (lunar gravity simulation) or the "Triple Spin" (astronaut training device). Additionally, on the 22nd floor, visitors can enjoy a Railway Model Simulator or a Viewscope (telescope) for a small fee.
