Komuroyama Park is a comprehensive recreational space sprawling around the summit and northwestern foothills of Mt. Komuro in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The summit, standing at 321m, is easily accessible via a scenic sightseeing lift. From the top, you are treated to a magnificent 360-degree panorama: Mount Fuji to the north, the Sagami Ocean to the east, the Izu Islands to the south, and the Tanzawa Mountains to the west. The park combines natural beauty with modern amenities, such as the newly renovated "Komuroyama Ridge Walk 'MISORA'" and a summit cafe, making it a perfect spot to enjoy both the scenery and the outdoors.
The Komuro Mountain Sightseeing Lift, the primary way to reach the summit, has been in operation since 1962. The history of the area's hospitality also runs deep; the restaurant at the base station, which opened in 1966 as the "Komuro Mountain Rest House," has evolved into the modern "kitchen・218." For decades, this area has been a beloved scenic spot in the Izu region. In 2021, the park underwent a significant evolution with the opening of the "Komuroyama Ridge Walk 'MISORA,'" allowing visitors to experience the landscape through a more contemporary and sophisticated lens.
Komuroyama Park offers a variety of experiences blending nature and leisure. The lift ride itself is a highlight, providing a bird's-eye view of the landscape. Once at the summit, the "Komuroyama Ridge Walk 'MISORA'"—a boardwalk designed to follow the natural contours of the land—allows you to walk through the scenery while enjoying views in every direction. For families, the "Dinosaur Plaza" features 13 dinosaur monuments and large play equipment, making it a hit with children. For a relaxing break, "Cafe・321" offers beverages with a stunning view.
The park's beauty changes with the seasons. From late February to early March, the "Camellia Garden," featuring 4,000 blooms of 1,000 varieties, becomes a major attraction.
