Happiya no Tani (Happy Valley) is a tranquil path located within a quiet villa area behind the historic Manpei Hotel in Karuizawa, Nagano. The most striking feature of this location is its beautiful, moss-covered stone-paved path, which is said to be the only one of its kind remaining in the Karuizawa area. Surrounded by lush forests, this space offers a serene escape from the bustle of modern life, allowing visitors to truly listen to the sounds of nature.
This area preserves the nostalgic atmosphere of the classic Karuizawa villa district. It is famously associated with Yasunari Kawabata, one of Japan's most renowned modern literary figures, who is said to have deeply loved this very landscape.
