Kobaigawa Fureai Park (also known as Homic Fureai Park) is a premier destination in Shimotsuma, Ibaraki Prefecture, where lush natural beauty meets diverse recreational-facilities. The park features a massive 32,000 m² flower zone that transforms with the seasons, offering a vibrant tapestry of colors. A central landmark is the unique Nature Center, designed in the shape of the Great Purple Emperor (the national butterfly of Japan), which serves as a hub for nature learning, sports, and family BBQs.
The park was developed as a vital community space that preserves and celebrates the natural environment of the Kobaiga River. It serves a dual purpose: a peaceful retreat for local residents and an educational center for preserving the ecosystem of the Great Purple Emperor butterfly. The architecture of the Nature Center itself, modeled after the butterfly, reflects a deep respect for the local wildlife and the importance of passing environmental awareness to future generations.

For sports enthusiasts, the park offers soccer and softball fields, as well as picnic areas. Please note that if you wish to enjoy a BBQ, a prior reservation at the Nature Center is required.
The area surrounding the park is characterized by the scenic Koga River. The Shimotsuma region is an excellent destination for road trips and cycling, offering many spots that highlight the natural landscape. The park is also conveniently located for travelers planning to visit the famous Mount Tsukuba area.
