Kita-zakura Dori is a renowned cherry blossom destination located in Nagatoro, Saitama Prefecture, and is officially recognized as one of the "Top 100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." The path stretches approximately 4 kilometers from Nagatoro Station to Takasago Bridge, lined with about 1,500 Somei-yoshino cherry trees. During the spring, the entire area is transformed into a vibrant pink landscape, creating a magnificent tunnel of blossoms that feels like a dreamscape.
Nagatoro has long been celebrated as a scenic area rich in natural beauty. The seasonal change of the landscape is a defining characteristic of the region, with the blooming of the cherry blossoms being a highly anticipated cultural event. The greatest draw is the continuous 4-kilometer stretch of Somei-yoshino cherry trees. When the blossoms reach full bloom, they form a dense, breathtaking canopy that covers the sky. The typical blooming season occurs from early to mid-April. To experience the most spectacular views, we recommend timing your visit during this peak period. The bright daylight hours are especially beautiful, as the contrast between the blue sky and the soft pink blossoms provides perfect conditions for photography.
The primary way to enjoy this area is by taking a leisurely stroll along the 4-kilometer cherry blossom-lined path. Walking through the gentle spring air while surrounded by thousands of blossoms is a peaceful and rejuvenating way to connect with nature.
The Nagatoro area offers several other spots to enjoy seasonal flowers. These include Minami-zakura Dori (a 1.5 km stretch with about 1,500 trees), the cherry blossom-lined approach to Hodosan Shrine, and the hills of Mt. Noto, where approximately 1,000 Somei-yoshino trees bloom.
