Kirifuri Falls is a breathtaking scenic spot located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. The waterfall is situated along the Kirifuri River and is characterized by its unique two-tiered structure. The upper tier drops 25 meters and the lower tier drops 26 meters, creating a total vertical drop of 75 meters. The name 'Kirifuri' (meaning 'falling mist') comes from the way the water strikes the rocks at the bottom, shattering into a fine, ethereal mist that resembles drifting fog. This mesmerizing sight is a hallmark of the area.

As the area is frequently used for hiking, we highly recommend wearing sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing. Please be cautious of the ground conditions, especially during rainy seasons or the day after heavy rain. Note that leeches may be present in the area, particularly from June to October; please take necessary precautions. While the area is open 24/7, English signage is limited, so please prepare in advance. Payments for nearby facilities are typically cash-based or via transportation IC cards.
