Kirifuri Kogen Kisugehei Plateau is a vast grassland area located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, spanning altitudes from 1,350m to 1,600m. The greatest charm of this location is the rich nature that changes its expression with every season, offering an overwhelming sense of openness. In early summer, the Nikko Kisuge (Daylilies) bloom in bright yellow, covering the fields like a golden carpet. Furthermore, from the open areas, if the weather is clear, you can gaze upon distant landmarks such as Mt. Fuji, Tokyo Skytree, and even the Pacific Ocean, making it a truly spectacular spot worthy of being called a 'Celestial Corridor.'
This region is positioned as an important area for protecting the rich natural environment of Nikko. The high-altitude vegetation is carefully preserved, and the area has long been cherished by nature lovers and hikers as a treasure trove of alpine plants, including the Nikko Kisuge. Because the landscape is maintained in accordance with natural cycles rather than being an artificial landscape, visitors can enjoy a different side of nature every time they visit. The biggest highlight of the park is the blooming season of the Nikko Kisuge in early summer. The contrast between the vast fields of yellow flowers and the deep blue sky is breathtakingly beautiful. Additionally, from the high ground with an unobstructed view, you can see not only the mountains of Nikko but also the Tokyo Skytree in the Kanto Plain and even the distant silhouette of Mt. Fuji. If the weather and conditions for a sea of clouds are met, you can experience a mystical sensation of floating above the clouds, a unique charm of this location.
The best time to visit is from May to July, when the Nikko Kisuge are in full bloom. This period allows you to fully enjoy the colorful beauty of nature. However, you can also enjoy walking through the highlands from summer to autumn while feeling the cool mountain breeze. Regarding the time of day, visiting in the morning is highly recommended. During the morning, when the air is clear and stable, Mt. Fuji and the Skytree are most easily visible, making it the perfect time for photography. In winter, the area may be covered in snow, presenting a completely different, serene landscape.

As this is a high-altitude area, temperatures are generally lower than at sea level. Even in summer, it can feel chilly when the wind blows, so please bring a light jacket or extra layers for warmth.
