Guide
Kazahaya no Sato is a lush botanical garden located in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. Its most striking feature is the diverse array of flowers that change with the seasons. The hydrangea (Ajisai) collection is particularly spectacular, with approximately 77,700 plants across 53 varieties planted across the hillsides. The garden is designed to harmonize with the natural landscape, creating a deeply soothing space for all visitors.
The garden preserves a culture of living in harmony with nature. Through the dedicated cultivation of seasonal blooms, a local horticultural culture has been preserved and passed down. The landscape is thoughtfully designed so that visitors can directly experience the subtle shifts in the seasons through the changing flora and natural scenery.

There are many enchanting spots within the garden. The hydrangea area is a major highlight, where visitors can enjoy a vast spectrum of colors and shapes, making it a favorite for photography enthusiasts. Because the primary flowers change with the seasons—such as wisteria, plum blossoms, and cosmos—every visit offers a new discovery. Additionally, the scenic footbath (ashiyu) provides a perfect place to relax while soaking in the breathtaking views.
The botanical scenery changes significantly depending on when you visit. The hydrangea season peaks from late May through June, with the most vibrant colors typically seen in mid-June. Other seasonal highlights include wisteria in early summer, plum blossoms in spring, and cosmos in the autumn. For the best experience, we recommend visiting during the soft light of the morning or the gentle light of the afternoon, which makes the colors of the flowers appear most vivid.

The primary way to enjoy the garden is through a leisurely stroll through nature. The park often hosts seasonal events centered around the blooming flowers. A unique experience here is the footbath, where you can refresh your body while gazing at the landscape. Spending time in such a quiet, natural setting allows you to easily forget the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The surrounding area of Mie Prefecture is dotted with various spots where you can feel the richness of Japanese nature. It is an excellent destination for those enjoying a scenic drive or motorcycle touring, as the landscape changes beautifully with each season.

Since the garden is a natural environment, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Depending on the season, the sun can be quite strong, so bringing a hat or a sun umbrella is advisable.
