Fujiko F. Fujio was born in 1933 in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, before eventually settling in Ikuta, Kawasaki City. The museum was established in Kawasaki following a request from Masako Fujimoto to preserve the artist's legacy in the area he called home.
