Katsurahama Ryuogū (Kaitsumi Jinja) is perched upon Ryuo Cape, located at the southern edge of the curved coastline of Urato Bay in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture. At the summit of this cape, two distinct shrines stand: Kaitsumi Jinja (Ryuogū) and Hakata Jinja. Due to its strategic position at the mouth of Urato Bay, this site has long been a center of worship for maritime safety and successful fishing. The site features an observation deck equipped with a compass rose, allowing visitors to orient themselves and understand the geography of the surrounding coastline and sea.
The primary deity of Kaitsumi Jinja (Ryuogū) is Owatatsumi-no-kami. This deity is revered for granting blessings such as maritime safety, bountiful catches, weather control (praying for rain or clear skies), business prosperity, and successful relationships. The adjacent Hakata Jinja enshrines Yamato Takeru-no-mikoto. Both shrines are managed by Wakamiya Hachiman-gu, serving as a historical testament to the deep-rooted spiritual connection between the local community and the sea. The location at the entrance of Urato Bay has historically served as a vital point for watching over the safety of voyagers.

Visiting during bright daylight hours is highly recommended to fully utilize the compass rose and enjoy the clearest views of the surrounding coastal landscape.
