Kanogawa Sakura Park is a nature-rich destination located along the Kano River in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The park's most iconic feature is its magnificent 450-meter-long cherry blossom tunnel. It is renowned as a premier cherry blossom viewing spot, attracting many visitors from late March to early April. On clear days, you can experience a breathtaking landscape where the soft pink of the full-bloom Somei Yoshino blossoms perfectly complements the majestic, snow-capped silhouette of Mt. Fuji. The adjacent wide riverbanks offer a peaceful space for walking and relaxing while enjoying the natural scenery.
The area is a symbol of the local natural beauty, maintained through efforts to preserve the scenic landscape of the Kano River. Historically, the riverbanks have been used for landscape formation, and today, the area is beautifully lined with meticulously maintained rows of Somei Yoshino cherry trees. The changing scenery of the Kano River throughout the seasons creates a cultural landscape that exists in perfect harmony with the local environment.

The greatest highlight of the park is the 450-meter cherry blossom tunnel stretching along the river. Walking through this path allows you to enjoy the blossoms overhead and the flowing river below simultaneously. Furthermore, from certain vantage points, you can capture the grand sight of Mt. Fuji framed by the cherry blossoms. During the transition of seasons, you may even see cherry blossom petals dancing on the water's surface, creating a truly poetic natural display.
The most highly recommended time to visit is during the peak bloom from late March to early April. During this window, the Somei Yoshino blossoms are in full splendor. Visiting during the daytime on a clear day provides the best chance to see the sharp, beautiful details of Mt. Fuji. Additionally, early morning or evening visits offer a different charm, as the changing light shifts the hues of the blossoms, making it an ideal time for quiet contemplation of nature.
Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks through the park or take a break on the wide riverbanks. The spacious riverside area provides an open, refreshing environment perfect for resting and unwinding in nature. The cherry blossom season is also a paradise for photography enthusiasts, offering endless opportunities to capture the stunning scenery. Whether you are walking or simply sitting by the river, the park offers a peaceful way to spend your time.
