Kannonyama Ume no Sato Baien is a renowned plum blossom destination located in Ichikai Town, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture. The 4-hectare site features approximately 3,000 plum trees of five different varieties, which bloom beautifully as spring approaches. Every March, the area hosts the "Ume Matsuri" (Plum Festival), attracting many visitors to enjoy the scenery.
This area is cherished as a local center for plum blossoms. The plum-growing culture is deeply rooted in the community, with the landscape changing beautifully through the seasons. Beyond the plum season, the site is a beloved local spot where visitors can enjoy the shifting expressions of nature and local flora.
The highlight is the breathtaking sight of 3,000 plum trees in full bloom. With five different varieties, the scenery offers a unique look depending on the exact timing of your visit. Even outside the plum season, the area is beautiful with seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, camellias, and primroses, as well as vibrant autumn foliage.
The peak season for plum blossoms is March, coinciding with the annual Ume Matsuri. For the best experience, we recommend strolling through the gardens during daylight hours. Please note that there is no nighttime illumination, so plan your visit during the day to fully enjoy the blossoms.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the vast grounds, breathing in the sweet scent of plum blossoms. Because the landscape changes with the seasons, you can experience different natural wonders—such as cherry blossoms or autumn colors—depending on when you visit.
The Ichikai area is surrounded by rich natural landscapes. Even outside the plum season, the area offers beautiful scenery like autumn leaves and various seasonal flowers, making it a wonderful place to revisit throughout the year.
Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for exploring the natural terrain. Since the area is a natural landscape, please dress accordingly.
