On the 1st floor, you can relax in a space featuring a traditional irori (sunken hearth), allowing you to feel the atmosphere of a classic Japanese room. The middle floor features a "Hi-mado" (fire window), a structural element used to monitor the fire. From the 2nd to the 4th floors, the museum displays various folk tools that supported daily life, such as equipment for sake brewing, forestry, sericulture (silk production), and weaving. Additionally, the 4th floor includes a viewing space located in the attic area.

The scenery of Shirakawa-go changes beautifully with the seasons. In summer (July and August), the lush greenery provides a stunning backdrop for the thatched-roof Gassho-zukuri houses. The museum is open from 10:00 to 16:00 (last entry at 15:50). We recommend visiting during the bright daylight hours to clearly observe the intricate details of the architecture and the displayed artifacts.
