Kamoshiki Shiroyama Historical Park, located in Kamishiki Town, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a place where nature and history exist in perfect harmony. The park's greatest draw is its seasonal transformation. It is particularly renowned as a location where visitors can enjoy the simultaneous blooming of early-blooming Kawatu cherry blossoms and vibrant yellow narcissus. The sight of these colorful flowers set against the calm, blue backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea provides a sense of profound tranquility to all who visit.
This area has a rich history as a vital hub for maritime transportation. The structures surrounding the park carry significant historical weight, allowing visitors to feel the footsteps of the region's past. Some of the buildings once served as guest houses or accommodations, and these cultural legacies remain an integral part of the current landscape, offering a glimpse into the area's storied heritage.
The scenery within the park changes beautifully with the seasons. The most striking spectacle is the collaboration between the Kawazu cherry blossoms and the narcissus. Approximately 190 Kawazu cherry trees spread their pink branches wide, while about 4,000 yellow narcissus flowers bloom at their feet. This stunning color contrast makes the park a premier destination for photography. Additionally, the panoramic views overlooking the Seto Inland Sea are a major highlight of the park.
The early spring season is highly recommended. During the peak bloom of the Kawazu cherry blossoms and narcissus, the "Shiroyama Historical Park Cherry Blossom Festival" is held. During this festival, local food stalls often appear, offering treats such as udon noodles and amazake (sweet rice wine), allowing you to experience the season with all your senses. While the daytime offers bright, vivid colors under the sun, the evening provides a peaceful atmosphere as the sun sets over the Seto Inland Sea.

As the park is a natural environment, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Since sea breezes can be quite cool even in early spring, it is wise to bring clothing that can be easily layered.
