Kaminoyama Park is a scenic urban park located near the summit of Mt. Monoki in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. It is conveniently located right next to Mihari Station, the top station of the Ikaho Ropeway, making access extremely smooth. The highlight of the park is the panoramic view from the 'Tokimeki Deck.' From this vantage point, you can look down upon the charming streets of Ikaho Onsen and see the majestic Tanigawa, Hotaka, and Akagi mountain ranges in the distance. The scenery changes beautifully with every season, offering a different experience throughout the year.
The park is situated in an area deeply connected to the history of Ikaho Onsen. The park is designed to maximize the viewing experience. The 'Tokimeki Deck' is the most important spot, allowing for an unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains and the hot spring town below. In spring, the area is adorned with vibrant azaleas, while in autumn, the surrounding trees turn into a colorful tapestry of red and gold. At night, it is also a famous spot for viewing the beautiful lights of the hot spring town, creating a magical atmosphere.
Each season offers a unique charm. Spring (around April to May) is the best time to see the blooming azaleas. Autumn (around October to November) is perfect for viewing the brilliant autumn foliage. Regarding the time of day, clear daylight hours are best for seeing the details of the mountain ranges, while evening and nightfall offer a romantic view of the glowing lights from the hot spring town. The scenery transforms completely depending on when you visit.
The park is an excellent environment for a relaxing stroll. Most visitors come to enjoy the view from the observation deck and rest amidst nature. The journey itself is part of the experience; taking the ropeway to reach the summit allows you to enjoy the changing scenery during the ascent. The silence of nature and the ability to gaze at the mountain ridges and the town below provides a peaceful escape from daily life.
The Ikaho Ropeway's 'Mihari Station' is located right next to the park, providing easy access from the base of the Ikaho Onsen area. The surrounding area is a popular tourism district filled with traditional hot spring accommodations, historical architecture, and many scenic spots, allowing you to fully enjoy both the natural beauty and the hot spring culture.
Since the park is located near a mountain summit, please dress according to the season. We highly recommend bringing a warm jacket or extra layers, as temperatures can drop significantly, especially in winter or during sudden weather changes. While some areas are paved, it is best to wear comfortable walking shoes for exploring nature. As this is a public park, please take your trash home with you and respect the natural environment. Regarding payments, while entering the park is free, you may need cash or a transit IC card if you use the ropeway.
