Kagikake-toge Pass is a premier observation point located on the southern side of Mount Daisen, spanning the border between Kake, Hino District, and Daisen, Tottori Prefecture. The name "Kagikake-toge" carries a fascinating historical origin. It is said to derive from a tradition where travelers to Mount Daisen Temple, as well as local farmers and workers, would hang small branches shaped like keys (kagi) on trees to pray for safe travels and good fortune. Another legend suggests that during the "Jusan-mairi" (a rite of passage for 13-year-old boys visiting Mount Daisen), people would offer key-shaped branches to stone statues, marking this area as a long-standing site of faith and protection for travelers.
