The Kabushima Matsuri is a traditional local festival held in conjunction with the annual grand festival of Kabushima Shrine in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. The most striking feature of this event is its setting: Kabushima, a site designated as a national natural monument and a massive breeding ground for black-tailed shearbirds. During this time, the surrounding landscape is covered in a beautiful yellow carpet of blooming rapeseed flowers (nanohana), signaling the arrival of spring. The main program is concentrated during the daytime, with lively stage events and performances running from the opening ceremony at 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
