Guide
Jupia Land Hirata is a scenic park located in Hirata Village, Ishikawa District, Fukushima Prefecture, characterized by its breathtaking seasonal floral landscapes. The park utilizes the natural undulating terrain of the hills to create a stunning visual effect, most notably in spring when the pink moss phlox (shibazakura) covers the slopes like a vast, colorful carpet. As summer approaches, the scenery shifts to vibrant displays of hydrangeas and lilies, offering a different palette of colors to welcome visitors. The park is well-maintained with various vantage points designed specifically to allow visitors to enjoy the flowers and the surrounding landscape from the best possible angles.
The area has been developed as a key tourism hub that celebrates the natural environment of Hirata Village. The moss phlox landscape, in particular, is recognized as a symbol of the region's natural beauty. The park promotes its charm both domestically and internationally through seasonal flower festivals and events that highlight local culture, such as the "World Hydrangea & Lily Festival." This commitment to preserving the natural landscape and fostering a coexistence with nature is the foundation of the park's enduring beauty.

The park features a rotating cast of botanical stars depending on the season. From April to May, the primary attraction is the moss phlox, which dyes the hillsides a brilliant pink. From late June to late July, the focus shifts to the hydrangea and lily gardens, showcasing a beautiful array of purple, white, and pink blooms. To enhance the visitor experience, the park includes observation decks that provide wide, elevated views of the floral expanses. Additionally, visitors can check the current blooming status via live cameras before their trip to ensure they arrive at the perfect time.
The best time to visit depends entirely on which flowers you wish to see. The peak moss phlox season is from April to May, offering a highly photogenic pink landscape. For those who love hydrangeas and lilies, the period from late June to late July is ideal. The standard operating hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends/holidays. During certain peak periods, an "Early Morning Opening" is implemented, allowing visitors to enjoy the flowers in the crisp, fresh morning air. Additionally, during the moss phlox festival, there are sometimes light-up events held in the evenings.

Beyond just sightseeing, the park offers various ways to enjoy the terrain. You can use a sightseeing cart to move around the park comfortably. Depending on the season, the park also hosts outdoor live music performances and stage events, allowing you to enjoy nature accompanied by music. The park frequently holds photo contests (such as on Instagram), making it a perfect destination for photography enthusiasts looking to capture and share the scenery.
