It is officially recognized as one of the 'Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan,' standing as a representative landmark of the Izu region. The journey to the falls involves a descent down a set of stairs from the parking area, leading to the awe-inspiring sight of the cascading water. The layout is designed so that the full, grand view of the falls reveals itself once you have descended the stairs from the parking area. Joren Falls offers a different face to visitors throughout the year. From spring to summer, you can observe the lush greenery and the abundant water volume. While the waterfall can be viewed 24 hours a day, we highly recommend visiting during daylight hours to clearly capture the shimmering details and the powerful presence of the falls.
The primary way to enjoy Joren Falls is through sensory appreciation—listening to the thunderous sound of the water and feeling the cool mist. Please note that entering the river or swimming is strictly prohibited. Additionally, as certain areas are used for fishing, entering the riverbed is not allowed. The best way to experience the site is through quiet contemplation or photography from the designated viewing areas.
The area around the falls is well-maintained with facilities such as a visitor center. The path leading to the waterfall consists of stairs, so visitors should prepare for a walk through a natural, rugged environment.
Because the path involves descending stairs and navigating natural terrain, we strongly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes or sneakers. Please observe the following rules:
