Izu Mito Sea Paradise is a historic aquarium located along the coast of Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Built on the concept of "Play! Learn! Touch!", this is an experiential facility where visitors do more than just observe; they can engage with the ecology of marine life. The facility originally opened in 1930 as "Nakanoshima Aquarium." It was later renamed "Mitsu Natural Aquarium" in 1941, before becoming the current "Izu Mito Sea Paradise" in 1977. As one of the oldest aquariums in Japan, it has long served as a cornerstone of local tourism, playing a vital role in communicating the wonders of marine life while coexisting with the local natural environment.
Inside the aquarium, you can observe a diverse array of marine life. The standout attractions are the sea lion and dolphin performance shows, where the lively movements of the animals mesmerize crowds.
