Isawa Onsen is a hot spring district spanning the Isawa and Kasagui areas of Fueki City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The hot spring town stretches approximately 1 km east to west along the Fueki River, centered around the Isawa Onsen Station area. The water is characterized as an alkaline simple spring, which is colorless and odorless, with a pH level typically between 8.5 and 9.5. Some sources may have a slight scent of hydrogen sulfide when fresh. The area offers a variety of experiences, including luxury accommodations, day-trip bathing facilities, health clubs, and footbath stations.
The history of Isawa Onsen traces back to the activities of local farmers in the pre-war era. The existence of the hot springs was discovered when wells were dug for grape cultivation, and water with a temperature of around 25°C and a slight hydrogen sulfide scent emerged. Today, the hot springs are centrally managed by the Yamanashi Prefectural Enterprise Bureau, with water supplied to various accommodations and households through a pipeline system. In recent years, the area has emphasized its local heritage through events such as cormorant fishing on the Fueki River and traditional Taiko drumming performances at Hachiman Shrine.
Tourism in the Isawa Onsen area is deeply connected to the region's famous specialties: grapes and peaches. The area is densely packed with orchards and wineries, offering visitors the chance to enjoy fruit picking and wine-related experiences. Within the hot spring town, you can visit communal baths or the
